Where would you recommend to go in  Latin America for a family holiday?

There are so many great family holidays to be had in Latin America. If you have older children (age 10 and above), then I would highly recommend a visit to Ecuador & The Galapagos Islands, taking in a cruise to experience their amazing islands.

Why are the Galapagos Islands fun for all the family?

Everyone will love being at one with nature, the fun of snorkelling with sea lions, close encounters with land Iguanas, watching the frigatebirds fly in formation around your boat, the pelicans nose-diving for fish in the sea & spotting penguins in their natural habitat, it is just amazing. The Galapagos Islands are also home to indigenous species, such as the blue-footed boobie birds – something very special to see.

The different landscapes of the islands are breathtaking. You will enjoy getting in the zodiacs with your life jackets on going off to explore the Galapagos Islands on small hikes led by National Park-certified leaders, so you are in very good knowledgeable hands. On your return, you will relax back on the boat with a nice meal or a BBQ on the top deck. The experience will stay with you forever.

For a family with younger children, then a land stay at one of the larger Galapagos Islands, such as Santa Cruz, would be an easier option, with some day trips arranged to visit the other islands and sites.

Is it the right time of year to go in school summer holidays?

The school holidays would be a perfect time to visit Ecuador and the Galapagos; it is officially the driest time of the year, with an average high of 26°C in the Galapagos and 21°C in Quito.

Look out for our next blog post for what to do as a family in Ecuador before or after the Galapagos Islands.
