Amakhala Game Reserve some forty miles from Port Elizabeth is a unique conservation initiative. Animals are being re-introduced to the area where they once roamed freely before farming excluded them and the original flora and fauna are being re-established to return the land to nature again. Guests at this private 7,500 hectare game reserve can enjoy the results of these conservation efforts with outstanding Big Five game viewing in a malaria-free area with excellent accommodation choices.

Four star rated Safari Lodge is in a valley of indigenous bush at the northern boundary of Amakhala Game Reserve and well placed for day and night guided game viewing drives. Guests can also visit nearby Addo Elephant Sanctuary.

African tribal designs inspire much of the lodge’s décor with fine African bead work and hand crafted designs in evidence throughout. The thatched main lodge and unique safari huts with stone-capped roof tops offer all the comforts of a luxury lodge. The view from the safari huts and lounge area is of the waterhole, where monkeys, antelope and zebra can often be seen.
