Kura was conceived and created by an architect and biologist – a husband and wife team – to be a sustainable and stylish getaway. Perched in the hills above Uvita on the Pacific Coast, it is a 30 minute drive to Ballena Marine National Park, where the sandy beach is excellent for swimming and the jungle ripe for exploring.

Surf lessons, white-water rafting and boat trips through the Sierpe River’s mangroves can be arranged. Certified divers can even take a day trip an hour offshore to Isla del Cano, well known for swimming with manta rays, turtles and dolphins. Throughout the hotel you will be treated to spectacular views of the forest and ocean – whether from the hotel’s spectacular salt water infinity pool, lined with dark-green tiles or the open-air spa pavilion with its choice of facials, massages, wraps and scrubs using local products. The open-plan Sky Lounge also affords uninterrupted views while you enjoy a cocktail or a delicious meal from the menu which specialises in freshly caught fish.
