Amakhala Game Reserve some forty miles from Port Elizabeth is a unique conservation initiative. Animals are being re-introduced to the area where they once roamed freely before farming excluded them and the original flora and fauna are being re-established to return the land to nature again. Guests at this private 7,500 hectare game reserve can enjoy the results of these conservation efforts with outstanding Big Five game viewing in a malaria-free area with excellent accommodation choices.
Hlosi Lodge is a small six room lodge on the Amakhala Game Reserve. Day and night guided game viewing drives are a highlight and children are specifically catered for with Kids on Safari Activities programme. Hlosi Lodge also offers extra activities such as bird watching, bush walks and archery.
There is an outdoor swimming pool and waterhole and shaded veranda with magnificent views. The boma – enclosed livestock area – adjoins the main lodge and is the gathering point for special activities organised by the staff. There is also a bar indoors and communal dining area.
