This beautiful region originated in the 10th century and, in more recent years, has become a sophisticated and important tourist destination.

Originally founded as a Roman city, Barcelona has a rich cultural heritage. Particularly renowned are the architectural works of Antoni Gaudi, including the Sagrada Familia, the most visited monument in Spain. The Plaza de Cataluna is the main shopping and cultural district, and Las Ramblas is certainly worth visiting.

The city of Girona has an interesting Cathedral and a number of relevant Art Nouveau buildings. This region is known for its gorgeous countryside, medieval towns, lovely beaches, excellent golf courses, and gastronomy. The area has a long wine-making tradition and was the birthplace of Cava.

Further down the coast, the historical centre of Valencia is one of the largest in Spain; the combination of these ancient monuments, wonderful views, and cultural attractions makes the city one of the country’s most popular visitor destinations. Alicante is home to the Castle of Santa Barbara and the historic Mediterranean port. The ever-popular towns of Denia and Javea are nearby.
