Just along the coast from Monaco and the French Riviera, the Cinque Terre region of Italy is still largely undiscovered by visitors.

The picturesque region is known for its colourful houses, terraced vineyards, and stunning coastal views. It comprises five small villages, each with its unique character and charm: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore.

There is a hiking trail connecting all five villages for active travellers. It offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea and the villages below.

A more relaxing option is to take a boat tour of the coastline, which allows you to see the villages from a different perspective. You can also swim, sunbathe and enjoy the sea on the beaches of Monterosso and Vernazza.

The villages also have several good restaurants where you can taste the local cuisine, such as Pesto, focaccia and seafood.
